Wireless Tax Fairness Act

We have been made aware that there is a bill in congress that needs your help. H.R. 1002: Wireless Tax Fairness Act is aiming to restrict any State or local jurisdiction from imposing a new discriminatory tax on cell phone services, providers, or property.

Here is an example of how you get taxed more right now from our friends at mywireless.org:
“Say you buy an e-book on your wireless device in Denver’s airport, but you live in Des Moines and that’s where your phone bill goes. Based on current laws, both cities can tax you on the purchase. It’s even conceivable you could be subjected to a third tax, based on the location of the company from which you bought the e-book!” - mywireless.org Email News Letter 04/03/2012

Clearly, its in consumers best interest that this bill is passed. When and if this bill is passed, the lawmakers will have another five years to figure out how to properly tax digital goods and purchases from wireless devices.

If you would like to learn in depth about this bill, you can do so on govtrack.us website here.

Also, you can get involved by writing to your representative and ask them to vote on this common sense issue. You can easily petition by following this link: http://act.mywireless.org/page/speakout/wireless-tax-fairness-act
